Diary of Henry G Oaks, 1857
   Henry G Oaks was the son of Stephen Oaks and Experience Goodell. Born 1817, Died _?_. Married Louisa Rudd in 1838 at LaPort City, Indiana. Has some account information he kept and a diary from Apr 1857 - Sep 1857. States he refers to: New York, Ohio, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana.

     He includes some genealogy information, headstone transcriptions and very interesting stories about his family and the Revolutionary war.

     The diary was transcribed as written so there are many spelling errors. Gets easier to read with practice :)

     One of the most interesting reads we've had at the historical society in a really long time. This was originally just a diary from an unknown author but after presenting crucial information found in the diary in the Southern Hill News, the mystery was eventually solved.
