"... Dr. William Henry Dwinelle (1819-1896), MD, DD, was one of the great pioneers of modern dentistry. Practicing by age nineteen, he made tools that he could not find, or invented ones that simply did not exist. He eventually opened a lucrative practice in New York City, whe he was widely recognized as a sculptor, artist, avid art collector, and speaker. He was well-known as an authority on dentristry[sp] on both sides of the Atlantic, and his many innovations include dental bridgework and taking impressions of teeth." [1] |
